Six Young Women Transforming Africa Through T4NA Leadership

Following our previous article on the contribution of women to Africa’s development, we proudly highlight six inspiring young women from the pilot project of Together for a New Africa (T4NA). These leaders embody excellence in their communities, empowered by the training and values instilled by T4NA.

Ms. Agnes Aloyotoo and her team revolutionised education in Gulu, Northern Uganda, through a T4NA-inspired radio program launched on February 28, 2021. Broadcast via Radio Maria Kampala station and  Gulu-substation, it reaches over two million people across the cities, promoting responsibility, peace, and the Ubuntu philosophy. Beyond education, the program catalysed projects like piggery farming, goat rearing, and tree planting while fostering unity through peace marches and sports events. Inspired by St. Daniel Comboni’s vision, Agnes continues to champion youth leadership training, mobilising communities to embrace sustainable development and peaceful coexistence.

Martine Ndaya, co-founder of T4NA, has been a tireless advocate for women’s empowerment. As a national representative of T4NA in the Democratic Republic of Congo, she uses her voice to confront social discrimination against women in the workforce. During the 2020 Labor Day celebration, she urged the Congolese government to prioritise policies that ensure women’s access to employment. Martine remains a mentor and role model for T4NA participants in Kananga, inspiring women to rise above societal challenges and lead with dignity and responsibility.

Peace Sabano of Uganda is an HR specialist dedicated to children, women’s development, and education. Recognized among the Top 40 Under 40 in 2020, Peace advocates for leadership at all levels, urging individuals to take responsibility for driving change. She emphasises that no effort is too small and that every action contributes to society’s transformation.

Jackline Muriuki, a Kenyan delegate to the Ubuntu United Nations fellowship in 2020, epitomises the power of the Ubuntu philosophy of togetherness. Believing that challenges can inspire greatness, she now serves as a tutor for Kenya for T4NA’s second cycle of leadership training, unitying 140 participants across 14 African countries. Jackline’s work fosters unity and collaboration among future leaders.

Ms. Mimmy Bigirimana from Burundi, a passionate environmentalist, was named ambassador for the Zero Plastic campaign in 2020. Through T4NA, she mobilised young people to combat plastic pollution and raise awareness about conservation. By organising clean-up drives and educating tourists at Rusizi Park, she inspires youth to take collective responsibility for protecting Africa’s natural resources, building a sustainable future for all.

Tezra Furaha Semuguruka, a Tanzanian alumni of T4NA, has transformed her passion for public service into a thriving political career. Currently serving as an elected Regional Youth Representative and Regional Secretary of Politics for the Unity Movement in Africa, she champions inclusivity, youth empowerment, and economic equity. Tezra credits her T4NA training with shaping her vision for a united, prosperous Africa, as she mentors young women and advocates for transparent leadership and sustainable development.

These six women are living testaments to the power of leadership, determination, and the transformative impact of T4NA’s mission. Through their initiatives, they inspire a generation to rise and contribute to Africa’s brighter future.
