About us

The initiative Together for a New Africa (T4NA) started in 2014, and has involved youth, institutions, and networks in its elaboration. We aim to empower young leaders in Africa to address the challenges of their communities and to shape in this way the future of their continent through collective leadership (co-leadership), good governance, a Culture of Unity, and the revival of the African “Ubuntu”-wisdom.

Our motivation

From 2018 to 2022, we offered our first leadership training cycle. It brought together 100 participants and 11 tutors from 7 countries in Eastern Africa and the Great Lakes regions: Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, the Republic Democratic of Congo, and Kenya. It helped us to draw specific attention to the challenges faced by the Great Lakes region. The success of the pilot project led T4NA to extend its horizons.

The second edition - launched in 2022 -, has been extended to 14 countries from all over the continent: Kenya, Burundi, Madagascar, Nigeria, Cameroon, Togo, Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Uganda, Angola, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Benin, and Ivory Coast. 140 young African leaders from different academic, professional, and cultural backgrounds and their 42 tutors are participating in this new training cycle of three years. They will jointly participate in three week-long “Summer Schools”. Each of the 14 national groups will organize local activities. In this way, they will demonstrate their leadership skills and make a real impact in their communities.

Together for a New Africa has created a pan-African network of young African leaders, who believe that only collaborative leadership can change the face of their beloved continent for the better.

As we are embarking on our 10th anniversary in 2024, the objective remains to replicate and extend the initiative to the whole continent. After the success of the pilot project, we are confident to say that our participants, alumni, and friends are confident to say that we are thriving towards greatness.
