The first Summer School of the 2nd cycle of the Together for a New Africa project is set to begin Today 11th September, and run until Friday 15th September 2023. The theme for the 5 days of leadership training is Becoming a Changemaker. 140 participants together with their tutors from 14 African countries-Kenya, Burundi, Madagascar, Nigeria, Cameroon, Togo, Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Uganda, Angola, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Benin, and Ivory Coast-are expected to participate in the online sessions while gathering together in presence in their respective countries. This will allow participants to bond locally, learn more about their communities together, and plan how to actively contribute to the development and change they wish to see.

Together for a New Africa aims to empower young leaders in Africa to address the challenges of their communities and thus shape the future of their continent, empowered by the concepts of collective leadership (co-leadership), good governance, a Culture of Unity, and a shared responsibility enhanced by “Ubuntu” wisdom to act together for a common good. Participants will have an opportunity to share knowledge for three years. Their different academic, professional and cultural backgrounds will create an enriching exchange on this wonderful journey that has just begun for this second group of participants.

This second cycle of the Together for a New Africa project is giving them an opportunity to have an international experience. Young people from Europe will be joining the online sessions to allow for an exchange that will be beneficial for both African and European participants. In the globalized world we live in today, it is important for young people to have an international and multicultural perspective on leadership.

Changemakers need to be equipped with a growth mindset, as well as the skills to communicate, inspire and influence others to take positive action. As we head towards our 10th anniversary in 2024, we invite the participants, alumni and friends to be protagonists of change.
